Overview

Product Summary

100,000 Users. 5,000,000 Events. 8 Doors from One Controller — The Backbone of Enterprise Access Control.

The access control controller is the intelligence engine of every door in the system — it receives credentials from readers, evaluates access rules, and commands door locks to open or remain secure. Getting this decision right, at up to 16 readers simultaneously, with 100,000 enrolled users and 5,000,000 stored access events, is a non-trivial engineering challenge that this controller addresses with a dedicated embedded processor, independent local database, and dual communication paths.

SSAL deploys 8-door IP access control controllers as the primary hardware layer in enterprise access control systems across Bangladesh's banking, healthcare, government, and commercial real estate sectors — where reliable, auditable, and tamper-evident door control is a regulatory and operational requirement.

Key Features

  • 8 Doors Bidirectional (16 Reader Ports): Controls 8 doors with in/out reader on each door — full bidirectional access and anti-passback enforcement across the entire controller domain from a single device
  • 100,000 User Capacity: On-board user database with full credential set (card, PIN, biometric template ID) — operates fully autonomously without server connectivity for up to 100,000 enrolled personnel
  • 5,000,000 Event Log: Stores 5 million timestamped access events (including access granted, access denied, door forced, door held, tamper) on-board — critical for regulatory audit trail under Bangladesh Bank ICT Guideline v4.0 and PDPO 2025
  • TCP/IP + RS-485 Dual Communication: Primary communication via Ethernet TCP/IP to management software; RS-485 backup path or sub-bus for reader daisy-chaining in cable-constrained installations
  • OSDP v2 Reader Interface: Supports OSDP v2 encrypted communication to compatible biometric readers — eliminating Wiegand signal interception risk between reader and controller
  • Wiegand Reader Support: Full backward compatibility with existing Wiegand 26/34-bit readers — enables phased upgrades without immediate reader replacement cost
  • Anti-Passback (Local & Global): Enforces directional flow rules — users who entered through Door A cannot exit through Door B without a corresponding entry event, preventing credential lending and tailgating across zones
  • Interlocking / Airlock (Mantrap): Configurable two-door interlocking — Door 2 cannot open until Door 1 is confirmed closed and locked, creating a secure mantrap vestibule for highest-security entry points
  • First Card Authentication: Configurable to hold all users at a door until a designated supervisor card presents — ensures supervised access to sensitive areas
  • 4 Relay Outputs: Independently programmable relay outputs for electric locks (fail-safe or fail-secure), auxiliary equipment (lighting, alarm sirens, PA triggers), or elevator control
  • Battery Backup Input: 12V battery backup input maintains door control and event logging during mains power failure — the controller continues to enforce access policies and log all events without network or power
  • DIN Rail Mount: Standard DIN rail mounting in security panels, electrical distribution boards, and server rack enclosures — clean, professional, and space-efficient installation

Typical Applications

  • Bank Branch: Full branch door control from a single controller — main lobby, safe area, IT room, staff entrance, manager office — with all events logged to the management server for Bangladesh Bank audit purposes
  • Hospital Multi-Zone: ICU, pharmacy, pathology, records, and staff areas controlled from a single controller per floor; interlocking at pharmacy door creates supervised entry vestibule
  • Corporate Office Floor: Open-plan office with 8 controlled access points — fire exit (fail-safe relay), server room (fail-secure), meeting rooms (card access), and reception (visitor management integration)
  • Government Ministry Building: DIN rail mounting in standard electrical panel rooms; 100,000-user capacity accommodates full civil service headcount at a large ministry
  • University Faculty Building: Department-level door control for laboratories, equipment stores, and staff areas; time-based rules allow student access during teaching hours only
  • Industrial Facility Controlled Areas: First-card authentication at high-hazard areas ensures a supervisor is always present before any worker enters; battery backup maintains control during power outages common in industrial areas

Compatibility & Integration

The 8-door IP controller integrates with Gallagher Command Centre, Honeywell Pro-Watch, ZKTeco BioAccess, and SSAL-managed open-platform access control management software. Multiple controllers are networked over the facility LAN; global anti-passback and event correlation operate across all controllers simultaneously through the management server. Integration with fire alarm systems via dry-contact input enables automatic fail-safe door release on fire signal in compliance with BNBC 2020 Part 4 egress requirements.

SSAL Supply & Support

Smart Safety & Automations Ltd. designs access control system architecture specifying controller placement to minimise cable run lengths, reader wiring cost, and system complexity. SSAL commissions all controllers including network configuration, user database import, access rule programming, time-zone definition, and anti-passback zone mapping. System acceptance testing (SAT) includes verification of every door, reader, alarm input, and relay output. AMC services include firmware updates, user database backup, and periodic functional testing of all controlled doors.
