Access control is only as strong as the authentication at the reader. A single-factor reader — card only or PIN only — can be defeated by a stolen credential or an observed code. The multi-modal biometric reader combines fingerprint verification, 13.56MHz smart card reading, and PIN authentication in a single unit, supporting two-factor and three-factor authentication policies at doors where the risk justifies the additional verification step.
