Product Summary
Hear the Break Before the Intruder Enters. Two-Stage Audio Analysis. All Glass Types.
Window and glass door smashing is the most common forced-entry method in commercial burglary. A door/window contact sensor detects when the opening mechanism is defeated — but glass breakage allows a person to enter through the frame before any sensor on the opening itself can respond. The acoustic glass break detector monitors the sound environment continuously, responding within milliseconds of the characteristic acoustic signature of breaking glass — triggering the alarm while the glass is still falling.
SSAL deploys acoustic glass break detectors as the first line of interior intrusion detection, working in combination with door/window contacts and motion detectors to create a layered alarm system that responds at the moment of entry attempt rather than after entry is achieved.
Key Features
- 10m Coverage Radius: A single ceiling or wall-mounted detector covers all glass surfaces within a 10m radius — a 10m detector in the centre of a typical commercial open-plan floor protects all external-facing windows simultaneously
- Two-Stage Audio Analysis: Stage 1 detects the low-frequency impact sound (thud) of an object striking glass; Stage 2 detects the high-frequency tinkling and shattering sound of the glass breaking; BOTH must be detected within a brief time window for alarm generation — eliminates false alarms from single-stage audio events
- All Glass Types Detected: Factory-calibrated detection algorithm handles tempered glass, laminated glass (safety glass), wired glass, plate glass, and insulated double-glazed units — covers the full range of commercial building glass specifications used in Bangladesh
- False Alarm Immunity — HVAC Noise, Thunder, Vehicle Noise: The two-stage algorithm is specifically tuned to reject common false alarm sources in commercial environments: HVAC ductwork noise, diesel generator vibration, thunder claps, and road vehicle noise including heavy truck impact noise
- 8–15VDC Wide Voltage Supply Range: Operates on any alarm panel zone power supply within the 8–15VDC range, including aged panel power supplies at the lower end of their voltage specification
- 12mA Low Current Draw: Minimal current consumption allows multiple detectors to be powered from a single alarm panel power supply zone without overloading
- Tamper Detection: Cover tamper contact triggers immediately if the detector housing is opened or removed from the mounting surface — generates an independent tamper output to the alarm panel
- Walk-Test Mode: LED indicator activates during programming and walk-test mode, providing visual confirmation of alarm trigger for commissioning engineers — automatically deactivates when the system is set to armed mode
- EN 50131 Grade 2: Certified for the Grade 2 standard appropriate for commercial retail, office, and low-to-medium risk premises — insurance-grade certification

Typical Applications
- Retail Store Front Glass: Large plate glass display windows and glass entrance doors in Dhaka's retail districts; acoustic detector protects all glass surfaces in the store without sensors on every individual glass panel
- Bank Branch — Ground Floor Glass Facades: Commercial bank branches with large glass frontages are high-value targets; acoustic detector provides the earliest possible alert when the glass is attacked, before any physical breach of the opening
- Office Building — Ground and Lower Floor Windows: Open-plan office floors with continuous window walls on multiple facades; ceiling-mounted acoustic detectors provide blanket glass protection without the installation complexity of contacts on every individual window frame
- Jewellery Display Case Protection: Display case glass smash-and-grab is the most common jewellery theft method; acoustic detector in the display area triggers the alarm within milliseconds of display case glass impact
- Hotel Lobby & Restaurant — Glass Partition Areas: High-value hospitality environments with glass feature walls, atrium glazing, and glass room dividers; two-stage analysis prevents false alarms from ambient noise in active hospitality environments
- Covered Outdoor Area — ATM Kiosk: Wall-mount within 1.5m of ceiling in covered outdoor ATM kiosks; protects ATM enclosure glass against smash attack
Compatibility & Integration
Acoustic glass break detectors connect via hardwired N/C zone contact to any alarm panel compatible with hardwired zone inputs. Tamper output connects to a dedicated tamper zone on the alarm panel, providing independent tamper status separate from the glass break alarm. SSAL integrates glass break detectors with Bosch DS150i, Honeywell FG-1625, and panel-agnostic hardwired zone configurations as the standard commercial deployment pattern.
SSAL Supply & Support
Smart Safety & Automations Ltd. calculates glass break detector coverage positions using acoustic propagation modelling — accounting for ceiling height, glass surface area and distance, and acoustic reflectance of the interior finishes. SSAL performs a glass break simulation test (using calibrated electronic glass break simulator) at each detector location during commissioning to confirm detection of all protected glass surfaces. Annual Maintenance Contracts include glass break simulation retesting and sensitivity verification.
