Overview

Product Summary

Two Technologies Must Agree Before the Alarm Fires. Virtually Zero False Alarms. Grade 3 Certified.

A single-technology PIR detector triggers an alarm whenever it detects a change in infrared radiation within its field of view. This simplicity is also its vulnerability — a warm air current from an air conditioning vent, sunlight moving across a wall as clouds pass, or a large insect can all trigger false alarms that erode trust in the alarm system and desensitise security teams to real alerts.

The dual-technology PIR + microwave detector requires simultaneous confirmation from both the passive infrared sensor and the K-band microwave (Doppler) sensor before generating an alarm output. Infrared energy change (heat detection) AND microwave movement (Doppler shift) must occur at the same time, in the same space, to cause an alarm — the combination virtually eliminates the false alarm sources that plague single-technology systems in Bangladesh's challenging environment of variable temperatures, air conditioning airflow, and insect activity.

Key Features

  • Dual Technology Confirmation (PIR + K-Band Microwave): Both sensors must trigger simultaneously for alarm output — if PIR detects heat without movement (sunbeam, HVAC airflow), no alarm; if microwave detects movement without heat signature (fan blade, vibrating surface), no alarm
  • EN 50131 Grade 3 Certified: The highest standard grade for commercial and high-risk residential intrusion detection — required for insurance-grade alarm systems at banks, jewellers, and high-value commercial premises; Grade 3 certification is verified by an independent test laboratory
  • Anti-Masking Detection: Near-field detection circuit senses when a masking agent (spray paint, foam, adhesive film, physical obstruction) is applied to the detector face — immediately generates a tamper alarm before the masking can be completed; defeats the most common professional attack method against motion detectors
  • Temperature Compensation: Automatic background temperature tracking eliminates the most common PIR false alarm cause in tropical climates — as ambient temperature rises toward body temperature, conventional PIRs become unreliable; this detector's temperature compensation algorithm maintains consistent sensitivity regardless of ambient temperature
  • Frequency Agile Microwave (Anti-Jamming): Microwave frequency automatically hops to avoid interference from other microwave sources (adjacent detectors, external microwave equipment) — prevents deliberate jamming using consumer microwave transmitters
  • 15m × 15m (90°) Coverage or 30m Long-Range Curtain: Standard wide-angle coverage for room protection or long-range narrow-beam curtain mode for corridor/entrance protection — single detector family serves multiple deployment scenarios
  • Pet Immunity (Optional, up to 30kg): Pet-immune variant uses downward-angled lens geometry to exclude the detection zone at floor level — pets weighing up to 30kg can move freely without triggering the alarm while intruders at standing height are reliably detected
  • Operating Temperature −10°C to +55°C: Full specification operation across the complete range of Bangladesh's interior environments, including non-air-conditioned spaces in summer
  • 9–16VDC Supply Range: Wide voltage tolerance accommodates battery-backed panel power supplies as voltage drops under load — maintains reliable detection even as battery backup voltage falls toward end of discharge

Typical Applications

  • Bank Branch Interior — After Hours: Grade 3 certification meets insurance requirements for commercial premises alarm systems; temperature compensation maintains reliable detection in non-air-conditioned branches during closed hours
  • Server Room & IT Area: Dual-technology confirmation eliminates false alarms from server equipment airflow and cooling system operation — the most common PIR false alarm source in data centre environments
  • Jewellery Store & Retail High-Value Display: Grade 3 and anti-masking defeat the preparation attacks used by professional retail burglars who mask detectors before the forced entry event
  • Pharmaceutical Warehouse & Drug Store: High-value pharmaceutical inventory requires the false-alarm immunity of dual-technology detection — accidental activation triggers expensive emergency response call-outs
  • Embassy & Government Secure Room: Anti-masking and Grade 3 certification meet the detector specification requirements of security-cleared government facilities
  • Industrial Facility After-Hours Protection: Large manufacturing facilities with HVAC, forklift traffic during the day, and completely empty spaces during closed hours benefit from dual-technology discrimination between mechanical movement and human intrusion

Compatibility & Integration

Dual-technology detectors connect to any EN 50131 Grade 3 compatible alarm panel via N/C hardwired zone or via bus interface (where panel supports zone bus). SSAL integrates detectors with Bosch DS151i and DS250i, Honeywell DT8016F, and Ajax DualCurtain Outdoor (wireless) series panels. Anti-masking output connects to a dedicated tamper zone on the alarm panel — separate from the alarm zone — enabling the panel to differentiate between a genuine intrusion alarm and a masking-attack signal.

SSAL Supply & Support

Smart Safety & Automations Ltd. designs intrusion detection coverage plans specifying detector placement to achieve complete interior coverage without gaps or overlapping zones that increase false alarm probability. SSAL programs alarm panels with detector-specific anti-masking and tamper zone assignments during commissioning. Annual Maintenance Contracts include walk-test verification of every detector, anti-masking function check, and sensitivity verification using calibrated test equipment to confirm EN 50131 Grade 3 performance is maintained throughout the system life.
