Product Summary
Detection Across Every Centimetre of the Run. Not a Point. A Line. 200 Metres Per Zone.
A point-type smoke or heat detector protects the area beneath it — a circle of coverage that leaves gaps between detectors. In a cable tray carrying thousands of electrical cables, a conveyor belt running 200 metres through a factory, or a road tunnel where the fire source can be anywhere along the carriageway, a grid of point detectors leaves unacceptable detection gaps.
Linear heat detection cable provides continuous detection across its entire installed length. Every centimetre of the cable is a detector — a fire at any point along the run will be detected. The cable is installed along the cable tray, beneath the conveyor belt, or along the tunnel ceiling, providing the continuous coverage that point detectors cannot achieve in linear protected spaces.
Key Features
- Digital Linear Heat Detection — Precise Location: Unlike analogue linear heat systems that detect "somewhere along the cable," digital linear heat detection provides precise location of the overheat point — the controller pinpoints the trigger location to within 1–3m along the cable run, directing first responders immediately
- Three Trigger Temperatures: 68°C / 85°C / 105°C: Different temperature ratings for different ambient environments — 68°C for normal ambient (cable trays, server rooms), 85°C for elevated ambient (near process equipment, dryers), 105°C for high-ambient installations (kilns adjacent, high-temperature process areas)
- 200m Zone Length: Each zone input on the fire alarm panel connects to up to 200m of detection cable — a single zone card port protects a 200m conveyor run or cable tray riser without multiple panel connections
- HDPE Protection Tube (Indoor/Standard Outdoor): High-density polyethylene outer jacket provides mechanical protection, UV resistance, and chemical resistance for the detection inner core in standard industrial environments
- Stainless Steel Protection Tube (Harsh/Corrosive Environments): 316L stainless steel outer tube for applications in chemically aggressive environments, high-pressure water wash-down areas, and areas with mechanical damage risk from vehicle or equipment contact
- IP67 Rated (Cable Assembly): The cable assembly is fully sealed against dust ingress and temporary submersion — essential for cable tray installations in below-grade areas subject to flooding, and outdoor conveyor applications exposed to Bangladesh's monsoon rainfall
- Operating Temperature Range −40°C to +85°C (Ambient): The cable withstands the full range of ambient temperatures in Bangladesh's industrial environments without false triggering or degradation of the inner sensing core
- Fault Detection — Open and Short Circuit: The detection controller continuously monitors for cable open circuit (cable break) and short circuit — both conditions generate a fault signal at the fire alarm panel immediately, ensuring that a cable defect does not create a silent failure in the detection coverage
- Panel Compatibility: Connects to most addressable panels via a conventional interface module, or to conventional panels directly as a Class B (two-wire) zone — no dedicated panel type required

Typical Applications
- Power Cable Trays — Electrical Substations and Industrial Plants: The primary linear heat detection application in Bangladesh — power cables in cable trays can develop insulation faults that cause smouldering fires; a cable tray fire generates little visible smoke until it spreads significantly, making linear heat detection superior to point-type smoke detectors in this environment
- Conveyor Belt Systems — RMG Factory and Jute Mill: Conveyor belt friction and overheating is a major fire cause in garment and jute processing; linear detection cable installed beneath the conveyor belt provides continuous coverage along the full belt run
- Road and Railway Tunnels: Linear heat detection is the standard fire detection system for tunnel infrastructure; stainless steel tube provides mechanical protection from vehicle impact and chemical resistance from diesel exhaust and fire suppression agent residues
- Cold Storage and Freezer Warehouse: 68°C trigger temperature is appropriate for −25°C ambient cold stores — the differential between ambient and trigger is large enough to detect a genuine fire without being affected by defrost cycles or compressor heat
- Grain and Agricultural Storage Silo: Grain self-heating is a fire risk in large grain silos; linear heat cable installed vertically or on a spiral path within the silo provides detection coverage that grid-pattern point detectors cannot achieve in the confined vertical space
- Escalator and Moving Walkway Motor Compartments: Escalator motor and drive chain areas are enclosed spaces where a point detector cannot be reliably positioned; linear cable routed through the motor compartment provides complete coverage of the fire risk area
Compatibility & Integration
Linear heat detection cable connects to the fire alarm system as a conventional zone or via an addressable interface module. SSAL integrates linear heat detection with Bosch, Honeywell, and Siemens addressable panels using validated interface modules that present the linear heat zone as an addressable device on the loop. Digital models with zone controllers transmit trigger location to the fire alarm panel for display at the annunciator.
SSAL Supply & Support
Smart Safety & Automations Ltd. designs linear heat detection systems including cable routing drawings, support bracket specification, zone length calculations, and panel interface wiring. SSAL provides the zone controller programming as part of commissioning and tests each zone with a calibrated heat source at a representative point along the cable to confirm detection response and location accuracy. Annual Maintenance Contracts include cable routing inspection, zone controller functional test, and end-of-line resistance measurement to confirm cable continuity.
